THANK YOU

to everyone that attended our August fundraiser.  There was good food, good wine and good camaraderie and we are all excited heading into the fall election season.  Particular thanks go out to special guest San Diego County Democratic Party Chair Jess Durfee.  Inspiring speeches were given by 50th Congressional District candidate Nick Liebham, 74th CA Assembly District candidate Brett Maxfield, Encinitas City Council candidates Maggie Houlihan and Rachelle Collier, and MiraCosta College  Board candidate George McNeil.  Francine Busby did a great job as Master of Ceremonies and lovely entertainment was provided by Rebeca and David Randle.

Speakers for the evening will include: Rachel Rott, an Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, will share her impressions of the convention. Lisa Kove will discuss Proposition 8 (the anti-gay-marriage proposition).  George McNeil, candidate for the MiraCosta College Board will discuss circumstances at the college.

OKTOBERFEST in ENCINITAS

On Sunday, September 21, 2008, we will have our voter registration booth running at the Encinitas Oktoberfest (yes, it's in September).  We can use more volunteers, so if you would like to pitch in, call Merrill Edelstein (after 10 a.m.) at 760-230-6263.  Or just stop by the booth and say hello.
